LeoBand Orchestra is bright representative of qualitative jazz orchestra music as original art form. The creation of LeoBand Orchestra constantly wins the favor of new audience.
Idea to establish the popular orchestra was born because of desire to put own art to other area. The director and kapellmeister Mykola Orach had proposed musicians from disbanded military orchestra by “PreMD” to make the team of professionals, which would try to take not very popular at that time in Ukraine niche of jazz orchestra music. Of course, not of all members from the previous team agreed – everybody was looking for own further creative way. But right than, at the beginning of 2012 year, it was formed the team, the basis of which was made by famous musicians: Bogdan Stasyshyn (the tube), Yurij Onadsko (the saxophone), Serhij Lishchuk (the trombone), Dmytro Oliinyk and Vitalij Kukharsky (the percussion instruments), Yurij Romaniv and Andrij Yashchuk (the keyboard instrumens), Volodymyr Voznyak (the guitar) and Mykola Orach (the director of orchestra and kapellmeister). The huge role in becoming of orchestra was played by Lviv famous arranger, composer and musician Roman Melnyk.
Name resolution was taken very fast before the presentation of the first project. The result became simple: “Leo” described birth in Lviv, “Band” underline the team’s spirit.
LeoBand Orchestra in its achievements counts several concert programs, dedicated to creativity of Frank Sinatra, the project “The Beatles”, retro-program “The Night in the Old Cinema”, festive New Year’s programs “Christmas Fairytale” and “White Christmas”. The last one won a special favor in the audience – during the tour it was covered up 7 cities, was given 8 concerts, and there were over 7 000 listeners in the halls!
Making of projects like that requires involvement of different musicians, so the part of orchestra changes according to the program. Unchangeable soloists of the orchestra are Pavlo Ilnytsky and Oksana Karaim. In different times LeoBand Orchestra worked together with that famous soloists as Oksana Mukha, Bria Blessing, Yulia Lord, Vladyslav Levytsky, Vyacheslav Sinchuk, Valerij Kyrychenko, Vitalij Kostenko, Yurij Gnatkovsky and David Miladze.
Also since the establishment of orchestra strong creative collaboration has developed with the famous Kyiv arranger, kapellmeister, and later the full right member of LeoBand Orchestra Oleksij Bazhenov, whose contribution to the development of the team is difficult to overestimate. Lot of arrangements, which orchestra plays, has been written by him.
The intention of LeoBand Orchestra’s art is creation only high-quality music product. Full houses on concerts, which accompanies LeoBand Orchestra, testify, that orchestra is on the right creative way.
